We can tell various different stories through various items. The objects we gather around us in our domestic environment often tells a story about who we are as individuals. Think about the personification of these objects, and what they would say as they observe their owner, as though from a strangely intimate yet aloof positioning A great example of this is Sylvia Plath’s “Mirror”
What story could you tell about yourself from the perception of an object that shares your living space? Are you able to comment on/explore ideas in more detail from this view point than if you were to speak from your own experience? Can you draw better descriptions, ask more probing questions, or come to more profound conclusions?
We’d love to see your responses to our prompt! Make sure you head over to our submissions page if you found that you have struck gold!
