2021: The Year Wrapped Up!

As 2021 draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank every person who has helped support Fawn Press in making its debut into the world. I had a goal to establish a new, indie and socially-conscious publisher of exceptional poetry, and as 2022 dawns, I would love to share some upcoming plans that Fawn Press will be aiming to achieve.

Mentorship Programme Update.

The five mentees of the 2021 scheme will continue receiving guidance and support – and we hope to expand our mentorship programme throughout 2022. After a successful few 121 zoom feedback sessions, we have launched the IG LIVE showcase series. Further dates in this series will return after the New Year. Details will be announce don our Instagram, so be sure to follow us!

Pamphlets.

We will be announcing our first cohort of pamphlets in Spring 2022. After our first wave of pamphlets, we will open a window for submissions in Summer (details TBA!)

This is all we can say at this time, but we are so looking forward to announcing our first wave of poets in the new year! Watch this space…

Wolverhampton Literature Festival.

We are delighted to announce that we will have a stall at Wolvo Lit Fest 2022 as part of the indie publishers’ fayre. This will include a performance slot, where some of our Poets will be performing poetry live and in-person. Find us Friday the 4th February from 10:30-4:30, at Walsall Art Gallery.

Lichfield Literature Festival.

Fawn Press is proud to have a slot in our home city of Lichfield at the literature festival, which will take place between Thursday March 24th and Sunday March 27th 2022 at the Hub at St Mary’s in Lichfield, WS13 6LG

Verve Festival.

Director Scarlett Ward-Bennett will be holding a writing workshop at Verve Festival. “Space & space: The Infinity Of A Blank Page”.

How can we as poets approach the examination of ‘Space,’ as in the galactic, and ‘space’ which occupies the small gaps or silences in between the spoken and unspoken, through the relationship between word and page? Participants will be invited to explore unique ways of structured storytelling that not only contemplates the narrative of the universe, but also considers the influence of breath, shape, pulse, and sensation upon the page.”

Editing services.

With the new year, we will have an open window for editing services and manuscript feedback services. To enquire about rates and services, email us at info@fawnpress.co.uk

Huge thanks go to Saffron Hoo, Lexia Tomlinson, Konnie Colton, Jimi Shabir, Mike Gates, all of the fantastic poets and contributors who submitted to our call for poetry. Thanks to the fantastic people at Beatfreaks Fuel fund- and also to my dad, for his unwavering support and help. I worried at one point that I had bitten off too much with bringing this anthology together in time for Christmas, but now it’s here, I feel immensely proud of the press and I am so excited to move forward with our plans!

Thank you so much for yoru support, and Merry Christmas!
